A new EU-project offers a funding scheme aimed at SMEs that are developing personalised medicine products and solutions. Meet the project coordinators at the Nordic Precision Medicine Forum.
The EU-project Personalized Medicine Innovation through Digital Enterprise Solutions (PERMIDES) launched a novel funding scheme on 15th March 2017. The aim is to help small and medium sized companies (SMEs) in biopharma working to take the step into the digital era.
To help kick off the project, Oslo Cancer Cluster, one of the 6 cluster partners in the initiative, will be on hand at Nordic Precision Medicine Forum in Copenhagen on 26th April. They will be happy to discuss how you can apply for funding up to 60,000 EUR.
How to apply successfully
Commenting on how you can succeed, D.B.R.K Gupta Udatha, project manager for PERMIDES, said: ‘In your proposals, you should address the innovation barriers and challenges that you experience in developing novel personalised medicine solutions, including drugs and diagnostics. It should be challenges that can be addressed by applying novel digital solutions’.
“With so many start-ups and SME’s in the area of precision medicine, initiatives like PERMIDES prove what we have been hearing for years now – that collaboration is the key to unlocking the promise of precision medicine” says Steve Coldicott, Director Precision Medicine Forum.
“We are glad to be able to bring together such a diverse range of organisations at Nordic Precision Medicine Forum and hope that SME’s will benefit from meeting with PERMIDES partners and take an active role in advancing the digitalisation of biopharma R&D.”
Developing novel personalised medicine
The voucher funding scheme of PERMIDES is aimed at SMEs from the biopharmaceutical sector developing novel personalised medicine products and solutions (e.g. biotech/medtech companies, diagnostics companies, CROs, biobank companies, bioinformatic companies).
‘To be eligible for funding, project teams must consist of one biopharma SME as the main applicant or beneficiary. In addition, there must be at least one IT or bioinformatics SME as a service provider. Potential partners in the project can be found via the PERMIDES platform, which is an innovative matchmaking tool to connect biopharma and IT SMEs’, says Udatha.
