Prof Dr Anke-Hilse Maitland-van der Zee is a Professor of Precision Medicine in the field of respiratory disease at the Academic Medical Centre, Amsterdam. She leads a group of >20 researchers (PhD students, assistant professor, post-docs, MDs and junior researchers) performing research in both pediatric and adult respiratory diseases.

Prof Dr Maitland-van der Zee received her master’s and PharmD in pharmaceutical sciences at the University of Groningen, and completed her PhD at Utrecht University. She completed her post-doctoral research at the Human Genetics Center, University of Texas, Houston.

Prof Dr Maitland-van der Zee has published more than 165 articles in peer reviewed journals and was the co-ordinator and principal investigator for two FP7 collaborative projects (EU-PACT and PREDICTION-ADR), respectively.. Prof Dr Maitland-van der Zee received a Dutch personal grant (VENI grant) in 2006, and recently acquired funding from the Dutch Lung Fund to conduct a pharmacogenetics trial in children with uncontrolled asthma.

Prof Dr Maitland-van der Zee is currently the president of the Dutch Federation of Innovative Drug Research (FIGON), she is the secretary treasurer of the Netherlands Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Biopharmacy (NVKFB) and she is a board member of the Netherlands Respiratory Society (NRS). The professor served as chair of the European Research Network of Pharmacogenetics from the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Sciences (EUFEPS) for almost 10 years and is still a member of the steering committee.
