Paula Lorgelly

Paula is the Deputy Director of the Office of Health Economics and is a Visiting Professor at King’s College London in the Division of Cancer Studies.  Prior to joining OHE in 2015 Paula was an Associate Professor at the Centre for Health Economics at Monash University (where she retains a visiting position).

Paula has over 15 years’ experience working in academia in Australia and the United Kingdom (and a visiting position in Germany). Whilst in Australia she was a member of the Economics Sub-Committee of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC), and in this capacity provided advice on the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of treatments seeking reimbursement on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.

Paula’s research interests span three defined areas of health economics: the determinants of health, economic evaluation and outcome measurement.  She has a particular interest in cancer and the economics of personalised medicine for use in oncology.  She is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Cancer Policy. She has a BSc(Hons) from the University of Canterbury and a PhD in Economics from the University of Otago.
